What You Need to Know About the New Facebook Pages Experience

August 25, 2022
Facebook

A big update from Facebook for pages is becoming widely available! While Facebook initially rolled out this update in January 2021, it was very limited. This update, the new pages experience, changes the way you use your Facebook page and adds new abilities that may have been hard to do before. The new Facebook pages experience is not available to all Facebook pages yet, but soon everyone will be able to switch over. Let’s dive into this update and what’s new:

Page Profile & New Design

According to Facebook, “The new page experience is a way for public figures, businesses and others who want to build and connect with an audience and manage their professional presence on Facebook.”

So instead of going to your Facebook page as yourself under your personal profile, your Facebook page now has its own profile! This allows you to switch from your personal profile to your page, keeping them separate from each other.

With this new update comes a cleaner, sleeker, and more intuitive page layout. Although there was nothing wrong with the classic Facebook pages, it’s always good to see redesigns and updates to the feel and look of Facebook pages.

Dedicated Feed

What’s most notable about this update is that since your page has its own profile, that means your page has its own dedicated feed. This is the first time pages have ever had access to the news feed. This makes it possible for pages to join conversations, interact with fans and peers, as well as follow trends and stay up to date with their community.

Since your personal profile and page are separate, this means that your Facebook page feed will also be separate. This allows you to follow and tailor your Facebook page feed to how you want it for your business.

Features & Admins

All previous admins and moderators of your Facebook page will still have access to features like settings, messages, insights, and more. Those who did not have admin or moderator access (but instead moderator, advertiser, etc.) to your page will have “task access” instead. For those with task access, they will not be able to switch into the new Facebook page profile and will instead have to use other platforms from Facebook to manage features. You can learn more about task access here.

By adding new page management features, it’ll be easier to assign and manage permissions on your page. You’ll be able to give access to your page in varying levels and specific tasks. It’s a great way to insure account safety and security!

Switching Back to Classic

For those who have been switched over to the new pages experience, there may be a way to go back to the classic page. Although this option is available to some pages, we would not recommend it. By switching back, you will lose access to the following:

  • Insights will be reverted back to the classic page insights
  • Ads you’ve created under the new pages experience will be stopped permanently
  • Any new content you’ve created under the new pages experience will be deleted
  • You won’t be able to use any of the new pages experience features

You can learn more from Facebook about what to do before switching back if you choose to do so here.

From what we understand, Facebook is deciding which pages will be updated to the new pages experience, but some pages may have the option to update. When your Facebook page is picked, you will be notified before it happens and automatically switched over, usually within a few days. When your Facebook page is switched to the new pages experience, all of your page content like photos, videos, posts, followers, and admins will be automatically switched over too, so you won’t have to worry about losing anything.

Once switched over, be sure to explore this new update and enjoy your new pages experience!
