Why All Businesses Should be using LinkedIn

March 3, 2021
LinkedIn for businesses, business LinkedIn

Not only is LinkedIn used by professionals and for job searching, but LinkedIn is a great tool that every business should be using. Just like your business may use Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to get your name out there, LinkedIn can be used in the same way.

While you may have a personal LinkedIn page, it is best to create a business page and post about your business on there. Setting up a LinkedIn page for your business is free and easy to do. Before creating your LinkedIn business page, log into your personal account and then follow these steps:

Top right corner click “Work” > At the bottom hit “Create a Company Page” > Select the page type > Enter in your business’ information and logo > Check the box at the bottom, verifying that you are authorized to create this business page > Click “Create page”

And you have now quickly and easily made your business’ page on LinkedIn! From there the top banner will give you suggestions on how you can improve your business' page. Be sure to add hashtags to your page, your website URL, a banner picture, and any other information you can provide. Completed business pages see 30% more weekly views. Your business’ page is now ready to go!

Now that you have created your LinkedIn business page, here are some tips to follow:

  • Just like other social media platforms, be sure to post on your LinkedIn business page often and include content that people will find interesting, helpful, or insightful, closely following the 80/20 rule
  • Add hashtags to your post that are relevant to your business and the post topic
  • Try to avoid “hard sells”, as this is highly looked down on
  • Understand your target audience and gear content towards them
  • Invite your connections to follow your business page
  • Have employees set up their own LinkedIn account or help them update theirs so that your business page is connected to their account
  • Engage in conversations under the hashtags you follow - offer tips and insight to gain credibility
  • Check your analytics to see what people like the most and what type of content gets the best results

Aside from using your business’ LinkedIn page to get your name out there, you can also use LinkedIn to post jobs. LinkedIn is rated number one in delivering quality hires and can get you 3x more qualified applicants when you pay to promote your job. Just like creating your business page, creating job postings on LinkedIn is easy and quick. Here is how to start:

Top right corner click “Work” > Click “Post a job” > Log into your LinkedIn Recruiter account (which will most likely be the same username and password as your LinkedIn account)

From there you will fill out the information for the job and set your budget. Yep, you read that right: budget. Posting jobs on LinkedIn is not free, but you can try it out with one free job posting

By using LinkedIn for your business you can get it in front of more people, build awareness, get more clients and leads, and even find new employees. LinkedIn is a great tool to use and is easy to set up with just a few clicks!
